5 Most Binge-Worthy Shows For New (or Pregnant) Moms: The Sequel

Binge-Worthy Shows

Almost one year later, and this pesky pandemic is still sticking around… so you may as well have some good coping strategies! There is only so much you can do for fun at home, especially with babies or small kids in the house. We think a little extra “screen time” is just the thing YOU need.

A few months back, we wrote about our favorite shows for new and pregnant moms to binge watch and now we’re back with more. A sequel of sorts.

Maybe you or your partner are still pregnant, maybe you’ve since added a baby to your family. Either way, there is still a lot of time at home that requires entertainment and relaxation; so stop mindlessly scrolling through TV apps and give one of our picks a try!

  1. Bridgerton– Period Drama and Romance

This new show sure stirred up a ton of conversation on social media when it was released. It quickly got a TON of viewers and has some pretty steamy scenes as well. If you’re a fan of other Shonda Rhimes shows (think “Grey’s Anatomy” and “How to Get Away with Murder”) then you will likely also love this exciting romance set in the 1800’s. It’s based on a book series too so you know the plot line will be solid!

Season 1 was recently released, but Season 2 has already been confirmed.

2. Firefly Lane– Friendship and Nostalgia

This show about a long term friendship between two women is based on one of my absolute favorite books (“Firefly Lane” by Kristen Hannah) and I could not be more excited for it’s recent arrival to the screen. It’s got the kind of real relationship moments that everyone can relate to in some way without being too dramatic or “fluffy.” It’s also a great reminder that parents are people too and have a lot more to them than just taking care of their kids.

Season 1 available now

3. Virgin River– Romance and Small Town Drama

Virgin River got an honorable mention at the end of our first binge-worthy blog, but now it finally has a second season so it’s moved up to the main list this time. The characters are quirky and likeable and there is just enough drama and mystery to keep you intrigued without going overboard. It’s a great show to get sucked into during those almost non-existent times when you’re alone and it’s quiet in the house.

Seasons 1-2 available now. Rumors of a third season are floating around as well.

4. Outlander– Historical Fiction and Fantasy

Another popular series based on novels that’s become a quick hit is Outlander. It is full of all kinds of storylines from big moments in history and time travel to romance and tragedy to war and death. It’s held a large following since it began in 2014 and is well loved, but it can be a little intense at times… so if you’re looking for light and fluffy perhaps try something else from our list.

Seasons 1-5 are already out which makes this a great option if you are looking for lots of time to kill. It has been approved for a sixth season as well.

5. The Queen’s Gambit– Emotional and Sports/Hobbies

Apparently it’s the year for book lovers to get into television because our final pick is also adapted from a fictional novel. It’s a coming-of-age story about a girl who becomes an unlikely chess champion in an effort to escape her unhappy life. The seven part miniseries has the feel of being based on a true story which helps draw you into a storyline that otherwise sounds, well, boring, but somehow isn’t. And another piece of good news: you don’t need to understand anything about chess in order to understand and fall in love with this show.

Since this was created as a miniseries, it is only one season long and won’t be continued
