First, let’s meet founder and CEO of Family Tree Doula Services and Certified Postpartum & Infant Care Doula, Sheryl Cooksley.
Sheryl is absolutely honored every single time a family invites her, or her team, into their postpartum space. She understands the vulnerability associated with new parenthood and she sees the invitation as a true privilege.
Sheryl walks alongside the families she serves as they establish their family roots and she contributes to their increasing level of confidence. This is not just a career for her, but rather, a calling.
This work is incredibly meaningful for Sheryl. After a string of personal tragedies, she knew it was time for her to get back to “heart work.” That’s when she decided to use her passion for supporting families in a way that would make a difference in the early stages of life. Sheryl committed herself to gathering all of the training and education required to become a Certified Professional Postpartum & Infant Care Doula. Sheryl’s love for learning and her dedication to exceptional care for the families she serves, led her to ProDoula’s Infant Feeding Specialist Training in January of this year. She is thrilled to be working with clients needing infant feeding support and care through the first year of life!
Her own family is diverse: she is an adoptee, the biological and adoptive mother of 4, grandmother of (almost) 8, and formerly fostered over 25 children. Sheryl is the mother of an adult child who experiences developmental and mental health needs, as well as a mother who has experienced the loss of a child. She enjoys living on the edge of the Mt. Hood National Forest with her husband in Estacada. She is a true Pacific Northwest girl and loves the outdoors and all Oregon has to offer.

Wait! Before you meet them, let me tell you what criteria they must meet in order to be considered for my team.
Each applicant must be professionally trained by a reputable training organization. They must be certified in adult and infant CPR & First Aid and required to be fully insured. They must provide me with references to speak to regarding their character and their practical abilities. If requested by a client, they must be willing to authorize a background check. They are encouraged to verbally disclose their immunization status if requested by a Family Tree client. Once they have met this criteria, they must sit through an extensive interview process in order for me to be certain that they are philosophically aligned with my company.
